Modern Day Slavery Reflection

We are living in the midst of a tragic paradox: no longer is there an underground network to guide slaves to freedom, but rather, there is an underground criminal network to entrap people and sell them into slavery.

North America has about 25,000 to 250,000 slaves which include Sex trafficking. Sex trafficking is basically kidnapping a person is using them for something sexual. Which is very abusive and a very horrible topic. This also happened to slaves and how the people sold them.

Some ways to stop Sex trafficking in the USA is if you are suspicious about sex trafficking call the police. For example, a source called NBC posted a story on February 4, 2017. A flight attendant named Shelia Fedrick was on a plane and was suspicious about human trafficking with a girl. She noticed two set off alarm bells in her head. She tried to start a conversation, but the man got defensive. She left a note in the bathroom, and the girl wrote: "I need help". So the flight attendant told the pilot and once the plane landed the police were waiting in the terminal to unrest the man.

Another way is to open/support a fundraiser for anti-human trafficking. Finally, educate people on sex trafficking and some may have ideas on how to stop it.

There are some differences from the history of slavery and modern day slavery. For example, the history of slavery cared about race, (African). This is where the underground railroad was. To help escaped slaves. Though Sex trafficking in the USA, the don't care about that. Though they normally want women and children. The similarities are that somebody has power, and somebody is being abused.

Human Sex trafficking is devastating to hear about, but we need to do something about it. Use some of the solutions I stated and help stop Sex trafficking.

  2. Hazel Ann,
I really like how you go into detail about not just one, but multiple ways to prevent slavery from happening. I believed you executed your point well and were able to provide good ideas and make a substantial difference.
