Historical Site Reflection

The most interesting thing that I learnt about my historical site was that Katong Park was not only a park, but it was a Coconut Plantation, British Military Fort, Park, Japanese invasion airplane engine factory, and then a park again. It was used for so many different uses. If I had to do this again I would not maybe repeat my self over and over again and put more pictures to remind me of what I am going talk about instead of so much words add pictures.   Some of the information I learnt from my classmates that fascinated  me was that the Vitoria Theater Hall saved people from the Japanese bombing Singapore and that it was a Hospital in WW2 and it saved a lot of people's life when the Japanese bombed Singapore. Raffles Hotel 125 years old , and used to be 2 stories with 10 bedrooms now it is 2 stories with 62 sweets. Wow! Raffles Hotel grew a lot from back than till now.

American Push/Pull factors

Push and Pull factors Assignment

We had to complete an assignment for social studies on the push/pull factors for Singapore and a American history. We did this assignment  by using resources and google maps. Some new skills I learnt were how to embed the code to blogger from google maps. Google maps is where you can pin countries and write notes about it on a map.  I also learnt how to find states on google maps, pin things and how to draw a line to connect the states together. It was a lot of fun because it was so easy to get to these things. If I didn't know how to do this I would probably just go and delete all of my things that I written. An interesting piece of information I learnt was that the were Catholics Farmers treated really badly. People were teasing them a lot about things. The Catholics Farmers didn't get treated they way the other people were treated. A similarity I found between America and Singapore was that the pull factors for Maryland and Malaysia they both had it was a safe countr...

Jo Cooper-Archeologist

Today we watched Mr. Jon Cooper in the Gr.5 Group room. I learned that Archeologist means that things that people leaved behind and don't want them. Also I learned that Adams Park was kind of like a prison. It's were people are sent. The most interesting thing I found out was that  they get 22 onces of rice each day for food in Adams Park. I thought this was interesting because it is very small amount of food for one day too. Also because what the people give them for food.   Something I can use to help me in my research is online and books. Online has a lot of research but, you have to be careful because not all of it is true. Books are also good but , sometimes it is from one point of view. Questions I have for Mr.Jon Cooper or about WW2 in singapore: What thing did he find at Adam Parks? In the WW2 about how many people were killed?

Social Studies Field Trip

Image
Today we went to the Images of Singapore Museum in Sentosa. The purpose of the field trip was for us to gain content knowledge of Singapore's history for social studies this semester. We went thorough the museum in our groups and completed a work sheet. The most interesting thing I learnt was that India, China,Malaysia, and Europe are the four winds and ethnic groups that mead up Singapore because it is interesting to learn about what happen to Singapore in the past and most thing of all how it was made.   Something that surprised me was the creppy wax people because I thought they where just going to be images of people because it was called Images of Singapore not Wax people of Singapore so it was kind of surprising. The best part of the trip was learning when Singapore was independent country because I really wanted to know which date it was it was one of my questions for like 4 years. Something I noticed that was similar to U.S. history was that Japa...
