Fantasy Reading Response- The Lion, the witch, and the wardrobe

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe In the book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis the big idea of the story was power. The theme of the story is power is wonderful but dangerous. Another big idea of the story was sacrificing. Also another theme of the story is sacrificing yourself helps people. Power is wonderful but dangerous is one of the themes because the White Witch has a lot of power but she is evil which is not good so she can tell the people who work for her bad things to do. Which is not good because if that happens killing or arresting might come in. Sacrificing yourself helps is another theme because Alsan sacrificed himself to save Edmund who was under the power of the White Witch. So he went out and made a deal with the witch so then he was killed. So Edmund came but to normal not on a spell because Aslan was dead. But Aslan came back alive because if the witch killed him he could live another life, so he did.    The story setting was in Na...

Historical Fiction Reading Response- The Fighting Ground

Hazel Ann’s Historical Fiction Reading Response! In the book The Fighting Ground by AVI.      The summary of the story is that Jonathan really wants to go to war, and finally he gets a chance to do so. Than he lost his team and the Hessian were going to hit him, but didn’t. After a little time he found his team, Jonathan had a hard choice to help the Hessian’s or kill them. He chose to help the Hessian’s because they helped him. The big idea of the story was trust and the theme was trusting someone might be scary.  My connection to this is that whenever I trust my mom with something I feel a little scared at first because now it’s up to them to do what they’re suppose to do. I think that Jonathan was a little scared about the Hessian’s shooting him, but trusted the hessian more when he told him to come with them. ‘“Don’t shoot!” he cried. The soldier’s leveled their guns at him. He’s only a boy. “Come on, he’s so scared he’s making it into his pant...

Research Based Essay

I really feel that chocolate milk is getting more and more addicting at SAS. For me, I think SAS should ban chocolate milk from the cafeteria. In my opinion, the students at SAS should buy more plain milk. This is because plain milk has a lot of nutrients, and does not have any additives. I assume kids mostly drink chocolate milk at school so their parents will have no idea what they’re drinking. I think this is because their parents might not want them to drink chocolate milk, but they want to, so kids buy chocolate milk at school. Plus chocolate milk has way too much sugar added. I think that if the kids are buying these kinds of drinks, they should learn more about chocolate milk. Kids should drink plain milk instead of chocolate milk. Plain milk has a lot of great things in the milk. This is why chocolate milk should be banned from SAS. Some children have a choice of buying chocolate milk at school. However, the parents might not want their children to drink chocolate milk. Ac...

Play Day Reflection

Image
Today we had our very last play day! It was awesome and Laney on the left,Mina on the right, and I in the middle had so much fun, I LOVED IT! The  funnest thing I thought was tug a war with the class because we all worked together as a team, had fun, and get very dirty. Out of all my play days I especially enjoyed the fourth grade because they had a lot of stations and was much funner. Also their was a lot more funner activities and a lot more fun, awesome, and surprising. The most fun thing was the musical buckets because you just shushed in the buckets and got really wet and had so much fun!

Historical Site Reflection

The most interesting thing that I learnt about my historical site was that Katong Park was not only a park, but it was a Coconut Plantation, British Military Fort, Park, Japanese invasion airplane engine factory, and then a park again. It was used for so many different uses. If I had to do this again I would not maybe repeat my self over and over again and put more pictures to remind me of what I am going talk about instead of so much words add pictures.   Some of the information I learnt from my classmates that fascinated  me was that the Vitoria Theater Hall saved people from the Japanese bombing Singapore and that it was a Hospital in WW2 and it saved a lot of people's life when the Japanese bombed Singapore. Raffles Hotel 125 years old , and used to be 2 stories with 10 bedrooms now it is 2 stories with 62 sweets. Wow! Raffles Hotel grew a lot from back than till now.

Mr. Brooks Entwistle Everest

Today we went to a assembly and Mr. Brooks Entwistle came and taught us what happen on everest when the avalanche hit. How surprising the hit was because it was so sunny.   Today I learnt that no one in Mr. Brooks Entwistle's group died. Also it was such a surprising hit because everybody thought it was a really nice at the time and then at 6:30 or so an avalanche hit and it was huge. No one got to climb up to the top of mount everest and Mr. Brooks Entwistle that was his dream and he didn't get the do it.  What I found fascinating is that  Mr. Brooks Entwistle was there when the avalanche came down and how he didn't get killed when his group was on the highest level in the groups.  I wonder if  Mr. Brooks Entwistle will ever climb the mountain again or if he is scared to because of the avalanche?  Questions: How many meters high did Mr. Brooks Entwistle climb? Did he like what he achieved from what he d...

Battle Of the Books Reflection

Image
Today was Battle the Books! My team was Jada,Adam,Jake,Austin, and I. The interesting thing about today was that my group and I bet some other groups know the titles, but not the author's. I think this was interesting because we said the questions fast and then when umm, and what's that until the time was up. Next time when I read a book I am going to try to remember the author's. What I enjoyed about today was the teamwork that was used today. Battle of the Books were all about teamwork because everybody was working together to find the title and the author of the book. Like if you didn't know what the title was and your other teammate knows it than they can help and say the answer. If I could do this over again  I would concentrate more on what the teacher was saying the question for the other team. I would do this because if I knew the title for the other team our team could get a point. I didi this a little bit, but I think I could've done better.      ...

American Push/Pull factors

Singapore Push and Pull factors

Push and Pull factors Assignment

We had to complete an assignment for social studies on the push/pull factors for Singapore and a American history. We did this assignment  by using resources and google maps. Some new skills I learnt were how to embed the code to blogger from google maps. Google maps is where you can pin countries and write notes about it on a map.  I also learnt how to find states on google maps, pin things and how to draw a line to connect the states together. It was a lot of fun because it was so easy to get to these things. If I didn't know how to do this I would probably just go and delete all of my things that I written. An interesting piece of information I learnt was that the were Catholics Farmers treated really badly. People were teasing them a lot about things. The Catholics Farmers didn't get treated they way the other people were treated. A similarity I found between America and Singapore was that the pull factors for Maryland and Malaysia they both had it was a safe countr...

Student Led Conferences Experiences

Today my parent and I had student Led conferences.  The best thing about it would be that spending so much time on the stations. Really understanding what I did and what was so successful on the topic. This is because we could have so much time on one topic and stay focus on that topic. The hard was that when my parents asked me why it was sometimes difficult to explain. I thought this because somethings where at the beginning of the year and it was hard to explain. That you had to really think deep into the topic so then they would understand it. If I could change something that would be slowing down a little bit on each station. I think this because I was going so quickly and I knew that I had the time to really show my work. I was rushing on my topics so quickly but, also answering the questions that they ask me.

My Journey to SIngapore

Peter Brown

Today we saw Peter Brown. Peter Brown was telling us about planning and story mountains. I learned that mistakes help you write your story. This is because Peter Brown made a lot of mistakes and it help him a lot to not do that in he story. So, mistakes are useful and it's not always bad to have to plan out your story. I also learned that you should say I'm done in just a little time. I learned this because Peter Brown took over one hour on figuring out what word he should do in his story. You shouldn't just say I'm done because you have a long way to go still. when you say I'm done you have just begun.
